After a long research and wait decided to explore new places with a new set of people, whom I never met before in my life to fulfill my wish to become a solo traveler. Found Bangalore explorers thru online meetup and here is my first one day trek / trip experience with Bangalore Explorers!

Devarayanadurga hills is part of Tumkur district in Karnataka and a best suitable place for one day trek. The Mysore ruler Chikka Devaraj Wodeyar conquered this hills hence it’s called as Devarayanadurga. This place is also famous for its temples Bhoga Narasimha & Yoga Narasimha, first temple is situated on the base of the hillock and the next one is on the top. The picturesque landscape is a treat for photographers and nature lovers, best for sunrise, sunset view and for one day trek.

Things to do in one day trek to Devarayanadurga:

Trekking & rock Climbing:

Suitable for easy level trekking and in few places need to crawl between the rocks to climb further.

Bhoga Narasimha & Yoga Narasimha temples – pilgrimage place for devotees and it’s a 2000 year old temple constructed in Dravidiyan style architecture at 4000 ft height, well maintained now also and regular Pooja is happening.

Need to climb few steps to reach the first temple and the fort type entrance looks majestic. Next to the pond, need to walk further and you can find a small ruined stone building.

Just cross that places to start the climb in between the bushes. After a bit steep climb you can reach the next level in the hillock and it’s a wide spread rocky hill, suitable to sit and relax.

Then need to climb further between rocks to reach the Kalmantap and this stretch is little tricky.

Namada Chilume

Natural spring from the surface of the rock. Its believed that Rama. Lakshmana & Sita stayed here during the exile, Rama shot an arrow on the rock to get water to apply the thilak in his forehead, hence this name. The water comes out from the rock throughout the year and on the way back to Bangalore after Devarayanadurga trek we visited the deer park and Namada Chilume due to its historical importance.
