Ramanagara trek is one of the famous trekking place near Bangalore and also famous for Hindi movie Sholay shooting spot. Another name for this hill is Ramadevara betta (Lord Ram rock) and located in Karnataka on the Bangalore – Mysore road.

How to Reach Ramanagara Betta

Private Vehicle or bus or catch a train from Bangalore to Ramanagara, almost most of the trains to Mysore stops at Ramanagara railway station. Lots of people prefer bike ride to reach this place.

We need to climb 400 steps to reach the top and we locate 2 temples there , after that need to walk some 100 meters to climb the rock.

Small Steps are engraved on the rock and there is a small hand rail available to balance and climb up. Once you reach the top, entire hill is all yours with a 360 degree viewpoint.

There is a small pond called Rama Tirtha Pond on top of the hill.

Snacks and water available only at the entrance and at the temple after climbing 400 steps.

Recently Ramanagara night trek is becoming famous, however Proper permission needs to be taken for night trek and advisable to go with well known trip organizers in Bangalore.

Approximately it took 2 hours to reach the base of the hill as we took break for breakfast at Bidadi to have famous Thattai idly. Ample space available to park the vehicles and then it took 30 mins to climb those 400 steps.

This place is suitable for nature lovers, trekkers and people love adventure near Bangalore, apt for rock climbing or bouldering.

Ramanagara hills is famous for Lord Rama, Lord Shiva, Hanuman statue and 2 temples are there and it’s a pilgrimage place near Bangalore.

Right time to Visit

Morning or evening and avoid noon time as the hill top doesn’t have any trees or shades to rest. Better to  avoid rainy season as it may slip, because to reach the top we need to climb steep rocks.
