Day 03 (29-March-2018)

Today we tried to hire a bullet to explore Punakha, however we couldn’t get it because not much people riding two wheelers at Bhutan. Once we stepped out of the hotel found a local shared taxi (Wagon R again and headed towards Punakha. He charged Rs 300/ person for one way.

Dochula Pass

On the way we stopped at Dochula Pass and the sky was clear to sight the beautiful snowcapped Himalayan peaks. However, within few minutes’ mist started to cover us and we experienced an awesome cloud covered 108 Chortens (Stupa) which was built by Queen Mother, Ashi Dorji Wangmo Wangchuck in the memory of Bhutanese soldiers who deceased in 2013 war. Its one of the highest motor road with 3100 mts height.

360-degree panoramic view of the Himalayan peaks is the highlight of this place. When we visited it was 2 degrees and one can experience minus degree during winter with snow fall.

We saw a big deer drinking water in the pond and lucky to see the entire royal family at the park. King, Queen and the future King visited the park and it was a memorable moment.

Chimi L’hakhang Village Homestay / Authentic Bhutanese food :

Walk through the paddy field in Himalayan mountain range and a prayer wheel which was rotating by the flowing water is a different experience to reach the authentic Bhutanese houses. Through online booked for stay / meal at Hotel Lhaki Yangchak, which is a Bhutanese house and met Mrs Dago who served awesome authentic Bhutanese food varieties. Had a unique traditional hospitality to cherish forever. And personally felt that we are responsible to support the people by staying at homestay’s, whose livelihood is majorly depending on tourism.
